The winner of Women’s World Chess Championship is known as the Women’s World Chess Champion. It determines the World Champion among all FIDE approved female chess players.
The format of the Women's World Chess Championship is administered by FIDE and according to it; the challenger has to defeat the reigning Women’s World Champion to win the title.
The present Women’s World Chess Champion is Alexandra Kosteniuk who won the title in the year 2008 against Hou Yifan.
