    World Junior Chess Champions

    World Junior Chess Champions are the winners of World Junior Chess Championship. It is organized by FIDE for the under-20 chess players. Both men and women are eligible to participate in the tournament if they are below 20 years old.

    All rules and regulations at the World Junior Chess Championship are governed by FIDE. The championship was played for the first time in 1951 in Birmingham, England. Borislav Ivkov was the first World Junior Chess Champion in the history of World Junior Chess Championship.

Besides being a World Junior Champion, Ivkov also won important tournaments like the Yugoslav Championship in the year 1958, 1963 and 1972. He competed for the title of World Chess Championship as a Candidate in the year 1965. Borislav Ivkov represented Yugoslavia at the Chess Olympiad for 12 times from the year 1956 to 1980. He also participated in the Olympiad competition for Yugoslavia for 6 times. Borislav Ivkov stills plays competitive chess at the age of 73 and is presently involved in writing his chess autobiography.

    Borislav Ivkov won the World Junior Chess Championship in the year 1951. It was for the first time that the tournament was organized and held at Birmingham. It was a tournament for chess players under the age of 20. Ivkov was 18 at the time he won the tournament and scored ahead of players like O. Panno and B. Larsen. Ivkov again participated in the World Junior Chess Championship, for the second time in 1953 and scored 3.5 on 7 to tie for the 3rd-4th place in the finals.
