The World Chess Champion, who took the entire world by surprise, Rustam Kasimdzhanov never gave up the fighting spirit. Never letting it go, Kasimdzhanov had always been optimistic and that’s what made him different from others. “I have played Kasparov a few times with disastrous results. I hope this will change of course” … his perseverance and determination got him closer to his ultimate goal, victory.
Rustam Kasimdzhanov was born in Uzbekistan in the year 1979 on the 5th of December. He is married with a son named Azar. He lives in Germany with his family. He was introduced to chess when he was just a kid of 5 years. Since then his journey has taken him to the crown of World Chess Championship.
Early Career:
t was in the year 1998 that the chess critics, players and journalist all over the world noted Rustam Kasimdzhanov for his brilliant performance in the Asian Championship. He took 2nd place in World Junior Chess Championship in the year 1999 and at Essen in the year 2001. He won bronze-medal for his country in Chess Olympiad in 2000 and was the runner-up in the World chess Championship in the year 2002. He won the FIDE World Chess Championship in the year 2004.
World Chess Championship:
Rustam Kasimdzhanov’s performance in the World Chess Championship 2004 surprised the entire world. He won mini matches against eminent players like Alejandro Ramirez, Ehsan Ghaem Maghami, Vasily Ivanchuk, Zoltan Almasi, Alexander Grischuk and Veselin Topalov to make his way to the finals. He won the title of World Championship with his win in the finals against Michael Adams.
After winning the title of WCC, Kasimdzhanov went ahead to participate at Linares in the year 2005 and won the knockout tournament in Corsica Masters tournament in the year 2006. Kasimdzhanov currently has an Elo rating of 2683, placing him on the 27th rank in the world and making him the number 1 player in Uzbekistan. |
